The Thirteenth Tale

This book was wonderful to read! It was one of those books were it was impossible to put down for anything (Adam was really happy it only took me 3 nights to finish). There were so many twists and turns and a few unexpected surprises thrown out for this one. The plot was great: An amazing author (who had written many famous books and was extremely well-known) had spent her whole life telling people the story of her life - but it wasn't really her story (she always said that storytellers are the best at making up stories that can captivate the audience, and that's what she did - made up stories). At the end of her life, she decides to actually tell her true story. And what an amazing story that turns out to be! This book has it all - love, suspense, mystery, sadness, hope, devastation, twins, excitement, family secrets, etc. This book is very fluid and easy to read, but elegant also. I loved finding out the true meaning behind the thirteenth tale (which the author had set out to write 13 tales and only wrote 12 and the public was extremely anxious to know why the 13th never came). I was guessing till the end and very surprised. I will have a hard time reading other books now that I have to compare them to this one. I highly recommend it and cannot wait until Dianne Setterfield comes out with a new one! One of my friends actually named her daughter after a character in this book - Moira. You'll have to read and pay close attention at the end to see that name.
